Some like it hot is movie directed by Billy Wilder in 1959. It stars Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lennon. It's considered as a love story and as a comedy in which music plays an essential role.
Nowadays, this movie is a classic in the cinema. Its success is due to its diversity in the themes that it approaches. And that's what makes the interest of this movie. From violent to hilarious, this movie makes us feel a lot of emotions at the same time. Some like it hot is paced by Jazz music; indeed, the two protagonists are musicians. Described as a hot ans fast music by Sugar (Marilyn Monroe) and Junior (Tony Curtis) it creates an absorbing and heady universe. On the one hand, there are explicit themes such as cross-dressing, homosexuality, violence, and women's place in the society of those days. All these themes highlight facts that remain current; they make us ask questions about our present society. On the other hand there are implicit themes as the society in the aftermath of 1929's crises in the United States. Prohibition is also depicted at the beginning of the movie with the fight with the police car and a hears full of whisky. The place of art is also taken up as shown with the two protagonists who are musicians.
So this movie is pleasant thanks to the diversity in it's themes. They are at once approached with humour, but at the same time, pushing to a real questioning. The strength of Some like it hot is also that even if it is a old film, it still keeping us into a hot mood !
